Exporting to Registry crashes system
Some utility packages contain Registry fixing tools, which may solve the problem. The only alternative we can think of is to run ScanReg, which is a standard tool with later versions of Windows 95 and Windows 98. If you don't have a copy it may be possible to find one on Microsoft's website, but it's probably easier to get a copy from a system running Windows 98. You need three files: scanreg.exe in \Windows\Command, and scanregw.exe and scanreg.ini in \Windows. ScanReg checks the Registry and also makes a daily backup of it, so it should run at every startup (which it normally does under Windows 98.) Otherwise, you could try exporting subkeys of Hkey_Local_Machine until you have homed in on the one that is causing the problem. What you do then, of course, will depend on what you find. | |||
